Oleum Wheat germ oil is carrier oil extracted from the germ of wheat (Triticum Vulgare), which contains about 25% of all the vitamins, minerals, and protein of the grain.

Main Constituents

  • Linoleic or omega-6 acid
  • Oleic acid
  • Palmitic acid
  • Polyunsaturated fatty acids and Squalenes
  • Ceramides and Glycoceramides
  • Particularly high in Octacosanol
  • Rich in vitamin E (tocopherols α, β, and δ), and vitamin B (B1, B2, and B6)

Functions

Hair:

  1. The polyunsaturated (long-chain) fatty acids give Oleum Wheat germ oil an emollient property, which helps moisturize dry brittle hair, especially heat damaged hair.
  2. Vitamin B helps increase circulation to the scalp which leads to thicker hair and less hair fall.
  3. Squalenes in Oleum Wheat germ oil promote hair growth.
  4. Oleum Wheat germ oil has a significant anti-hair fall property. Because it’s rich in vitamin E, Oleum Wheat germ oil promotes blood microcirculation to the scalp which supplies the hair follicles with the essential nutrients it requires to strengthen the hair and prevent it from breaking or falling.

Skin:

  1. Oleum Wheat germ oil is very rich in vitamin E, which mainly consists of Tocopherols. Tocopherols are largely known for their anti-oxidative property; they actively protect the skin from the formation of lipoperoxides, which usually cause wrinkling and aging of the skin.
  2. Vitamin E reduces the damage caused by free radicals induced by UV radiation from the sun. Oleum Wheat germ oil rich in vitamin E is recommended for formulations intended for the protection of skin and hair from sun damage.
  3. Vitamin E also helps with skin healing and regeneration.
  4. The microcirculation property of vitamin E provides nutrients and efficient blood and oxygen supply to the skin, especially the areas which are usually fragile and deprived, like the area around the eyes and under the lips.
  5. Ceramides aided by vitamin E, have moisturizing and occlusive (preserve skin hydration) properties; with frequent application, notable improvement of the skin surface occurs.
  6. Ceramides, in the oil of Oleum wheat germ, protect the skin’s elasticity and integrity.

It has been proven that damaged skin structure, susceptibility to irritant dermatitis, and premature aging skin are common symptoms in individuals who suffer from low levels of ceramides, or have low activity in the enzyme responsible for the production of ceramides in the body.

Other Uses:

  • For the Gym: Octacosanol which is abundant in Oleum Wheat germ oil is proven to enhance athletic performance, by improving physical endurance and stamina. Kim)
  • OTC:  Because of its anti-oxidative and antiradical effect, Oleum Wheat germ oil help protect against skin cancer and irritant dermatitis. It also boosts the immune system due to its high vitamins, minerals, and fatty acids content.
